Our goal is to install a unique ADA-compliant “inclusive” playground that will be accessible to individuals of all abilities.
By giving parents/caregivers peace of mind that their children are safe and happy, we enable opportunities for parents/caregivers to connect and enjoy fellowship—and focus on cultivating “Intentional Relationships” (another of our Values).
The proposed facility will also be utilized for VBS and Club H2O during the summer; for various midweek activities; for special programs/events offered throughout the year; and for non-church goers, as a community resource. The proposed facility will not be funded through any civil funding sources and will thus remain an asset of the presbytery whose use is solely determined by the Session at TPC and the Los Ranchos Presbytery.
We intend the “Creating Joy” project to create
- a welcoming, safe playground for children of the local community and of church members
- an amphitheater for many different community and church-related activities (determined at the sole discretion of the Session of TPC and Los Ranchos Presbytery as indicated above).
Additionally, we may be able to enlist our congregation, along with non-members in the community in the actual installation of the playground, which would allow all participants the opportunity to share their talents and time as well as their financial gifts in honoring and giving to God.
Our Mission at TPC is Inviting All People to Build an Active Relationship with Jesus Christ. One of the Values through which we seek to fulfill our Mission is “Welcoming Families.” Our “Creating Joy” project is one step toward this end.
A portion of our “Creating Joy” project involves renovating our campus with specific emphasis on outreach to the community through the development of a unique playground structure and amphitheater. The Rancho Santa Margarita/Trabuco Canyon area is very family oriented and we are seeking means for reaching families who do not have active affiliation with a Church family. With “Creating Joy” we intend to build an inclusive fellowship area for children, youth, and families.
Because of You
Because of you, the “Creating Joy” project will benefit the Rancho Santa Margarita and surrounding communities at large, as well as the families and individuals who participate in services and other activities at Trabuco Presbyterian Church.
One of the playground design firms that we are evaluating (Kids Around the World) uses the profits of playgrounds installed in the U.S. to build “accessible” playgrounds in foreign countries ravaged by war, poverty, famine, natural disaster, etc, thereby offering children the fundamental right to play. To this end, there is an element of this project that offers a global missional benefit that may be quantified and promoted throughout the presbytery and the denomination.
